Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CITY-TFR2 is a preclinical GalNAc-conjugated small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate designed to target transferrin receptor 2 (TFR2) in the liver. Developed by City Therapeutics, the drug utilizes RNA interference (RNAi) to silence hepatic TFR2 expression, which in turn lowers hepcidin levels and restores iron availability for red blood cell production. It is being developed for the treatment of anemia of chronic disease, with an initial focus on anemia associated with myelofibrosis, and potential expansion into anemia of chronic kidney disease and chronic inflammatory conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease.
