Overview

Cizumab is a biosimilar of bevacizumab, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and neutralizes vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). By binding VEGF-A, it inhibits angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), thus starving tumors of their blood supply, slowing or halting tumor growth. Cizumab is approved for use in India for a range of solid tumors, including colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), glioblastoma, metastatic renal cell carcinoma, breast cancer, and cervical cancer. It was launched by Hetero and is manufactured using advanced biotechnological methods as a complex protein molecule.[1]
