Overview

CJ-40010 CVA16 vaccine is an inactivated whole-virus vaccine candidate developed to prevent Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) caused by Coxsackievirus A16 (CVA16). CVA16 is a major pathogen responsible for HFMD, particularly in young children. The vaccine works by introducing inactivated CVA16 viral antigens to the immune system, stimulating the production of neutralizing antibodies that can recognize and neutralize the live virus, thereby conferring protective immunity. This vaccine candidate has been evaluated in animal models and has progressed to Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy subjects.
