CJC-1295 is a synthetic peptide and long-acting analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), also known as growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF). It was developed by ConjuChem Biotechnologies. The drug is designed to stimulate the release of endogenous growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland by binding to and activating the growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) on pituitary cells[1][6]. Unlike native GHRH, which has a short half-life in circulation, CJC-1295 incorporates a drug affinity complex (DAC) that allows it to bind covalently to albumin in the bloodstream. This modification significantly extends its half-life to approximately 6–8 days in humans[1][2][8]. CJC-1295 administration results in sustained and dose-dependent increases in plasma GH and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels for several days after injection[2][5]. It has been studied primarily for its potential use as a therapeutic agent for conditions associated with GH deficiency or suboptimal GH secretion. The peptide is administered via subcutaneous injection.
