Overview

CJRB-201 is an oral, microbiome-based therapeutic candidate being developed by CJ Bioscience for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. [1, 2, 3] It is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of a proprietary strain of *Faecalibacterium*, a beneficial gut bacterium that is often depleted in IBD patients. [1, 3] The drug aims to restore the gut microbiome and reduce inflammation by potently inducing regulatory T cells (Tregs), which help mitigate immune dysregulation. [1, 3] In preclinical studies, CJRB-201 demonstrated efficacy comparable to an antibody-based therapy but with the advantages of oral administration and an improved safety profile. [1]
