Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CJT-L11 is a needle-free, pre-filled, single-use autoinjector formulation of sumatriptan being developed by Crossject for the acute treatment of severe migraine and cluster headache. The product utilizes Crossject's proprietary ZENEO® technology, which employs a propellant-free, high-pressure gas system to deliver the drug subcutaneously in less than 100 milliseconds. This needle-free delivery is intended to improve patient compliance, reduce needle-stick injuries, and provide rapid systemic absorption comparable to traditional subcutaneous injections, which is critical for emergency relief of debilitating headache attacks. Sumatriptan, the active pharmaceutical ingredient, is a selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist that works by constricting dilated cranial extracerebral blood vessels and inhibiting the release of sensory neuropeptides from trigeminal nerve endings.
