Overview

CK-1316719 is a small molecule cardiac myosin activator developed by Cytokinetics for the treatment of heart failure. It functions by directly targeting the cardiac myosin motor to increase the rate of ATP hydrolysis (ATPase activity), thereby enhancing myofibril contractility and cardiac output. Preclinical studies in rat models of heart failure demonstrated that the compound improves myocyte contractility without causing desensitization. It was part of Cytokinetics' early-stage cardiovascular pipeline and was highlighted at the 2006 American Heart Association Scientific Sessions as a lead compound in their unpartnered cardiac myosin activator program.
