Overview

CKD-202A is a fixed-dose combination formulation of the angiotensin receptor–neprilysin inhibitor sacubitril and the angiotensin II receptor blocker valsartan being developed for the treatment of essential hypertension. It is pharmacologically similar to sacubitril/valsartan (ARNI), which lowers blood pressure by simultaneously inhibiting neprilysin to increase levels of vasodilatory natriuretic peptides and blocking the angiotensin II type 1 receptor to suppress vasoconstriction and aldosterone-mediated sodium retention. CKD-202A is being evaluated in phase 3 clinical trials that compare a dose-escalation and maintenance regimen of sacubitril/valsartan versus valsartan alone in patients with essential hypertension.[7][10][18]
