Overview

CKD-378 is an oral fixed-dose combination of **empagliflozin 25 mg** and **metformin 1,000 mg** being developed by Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical for type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is designed as a once-daily, high-dose alternative to empagliflozin/metformin combination products. Empagliflozin selectively inhibits sodium/glucose cotransporter 2 in the kidney, increasing urinary glucose excretion, while metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and improves insulin sensitivity.
