Overview

CKD-387 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) drug developed by Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It contains 10 mg of dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and 1000 mg of metformin, a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent. Dapagliflozin works by inhibiting glucose reabsorption in the proximal tubule of the kidney, thereby enhancing urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood glucose levels. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. CKD-387 has been evaluated in Phase 1 pharmacokinetic studies to compare its bioequivalence and safety to reference formulations under both fasted and fed conditions.
