Overview

CL-AD-MSC-002 is an allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (ASC) therapy developed by Rigshospitalet for the treatment of primary Sjögren syndrome. The therapy involves the intraglandular injection of healthy donor-derived ASCs directly into the parotid and submandibular glands. These cells are expanded in vitro and are intended to provide immunomodulatory effects within the microenvironment of the salivary glands. The mechanism of action involves the suppression of pro-inflammatory T-cell and B-cell responses and the promotion of regulatory T-cell activity, which aims to reduce the lymphocytic infiltration and chronic inflammation characteristic of Sjögren syndrome, thereby potentially restoring exocrine gland function and alleviating symptoms of dryness.
