CL002NK is an autologous natural killer (NK) cell therapy developed by the Third Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University (Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital) for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The therapy involves the collection of a patient's peripheral blood mononuclear cells, which are then subjected to ex vivo expansion and activation using specific cytokines to enhance their anti-tumor potency. Once re-infused into the patient, these activated NK cells target and eliminate malignant cells through the release of cytolytic granules containing perforin and granzymes, as well as the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interferon-gamma (IFN-γ). CL002NK is primarily being investigated as an adjuvant treatment to prevent recurrence in patients with HCC who have undergone curative interventions such as surgical resection or local ablation.
