CL184 (Crucell)

CL184 is a combination of two human monoclonal antibodies, CR57 and CR4098, designed for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Developed by Crucell (now part of Janssen) in collaboration with Sanofi Pasteur, the cocktail targets non-overlapping epitopes on the rabies virus glycoprotein to neutralize the virus. It was developed as a safer, more consistent, and more scalable alternative to human rabies immune globulin (HRIG), which is derived from human plasma. Clinical trials evaluated its safety and neutralizing activity when administered alongside a rabies vaccine in both adults and children.
