Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clarastill is a sterile, lubricating, and protective ophthalmic solution developed by Bruschettini. It is formulated as a CE class IIa medical device containing carboxymethylcellulose (0.3%), glycerin, and N-acetylcarnosine. Clarastill is indicated for the treatment of alterations of the ocular surface, dry eye syndrome, and ocular irritation or fatigue caused by environmental factors such as wind, smoke, solar radiation, air conditioning, and prolonged screen use. Carboxymethylcellulose and glycerin act as lubricants and humectants to stabilize the tear film and form a protective hydrogel on the corneal surface, while N-acetylcarnosine acts as a prodrug of L-carnosine, providing antioxidant and anti-free radical protection to ocular tissues.
