Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clarastill Sine is a preservative-free ophthalmic solution developed by Visum Pharm, containing a combination of N-acetylcarnosine, carboxymethylcellulose, and glycerin. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of degenerative changes in the eye, such as cataracts, and for the relief of dry eye symptoms. N-acetylcarnosine acts as a prodrug for L-carnosine, which functions as a potent antioxidant and antiglycation agent within the aqueous humor and lens, helping to prevent and reduce the opacification of the lens. Carboxymethylcellulose and glycerin provide lubricating and osmoprotective effects on the ocular surface, alleviating irritation and maintaining tear film stability. The "Sine" designation indicates a formulation free of preservatives, making it suitable for patients with sensitive eyes or those requiring frequent application.
