Overview
CLARIX CORD 1K is a cryopreserved umbilical cord and amniotic membrane matrix allograft developed by Amniox Medical (a TissueTech company). It is processed using the proprietary CRYOTEK technology, which devitalizes living cells while preserving the structural integrity and biological signaling molecules of the tissue, such as heavy chain hyaluronic acid-pentraxin 3 (HC-HA/PTX3) and various growth factors. In the context of prostate cancer treatment, it is utilized during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) as a biological nerve wrap placed over the neurovascular bundles. The allograft is intended to provide a pro-healing environment by modulating inflammation, reducing the formation of scar tissue (fibrosis), and supporting the natural healing process of the nerves responsible for erectile function and urinary continence. It has been available in the U.S. since 2013 as a Section 361 Human Cell and Tissue-based Product (HCT/P).
