Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clavosafe-Forte is a combination antibiotic formulation marketed by Emblazon Life Sciences, containing amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from degradation by bacterial enzymes, thereby extending its activity against beta-lactamase-producing organisms. This combination is widely used to treat various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin. The "Forte" designation typically refers to a higher-strength formulation, such as the 625 mg tablet (comprising 500 mg amoxicillin and 125 mg clavulanic acid).
