CLD-401 is a next-generation systemic oncolytic virotherapy candidate developed by Calidi Biotherapeutics as the lead asset from its RedTail platform. It is an enveloped, genetically engineered oncolytic virus designed for intravenous administration and enhanced resistance to immune clearance. The virus envelope incorporates a chimeric CD55 receptor, which inhibits complement-mediated destruction and increases viral stability in circulation. CLD-401 also expresses an IL-15 superagonist payload—a potent cytokine that activates and expands natural killer (NK) cells and CD8+ T cells—thereby stimulating robust antitumor immune responses within the tumor microenvironment.
