Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CLDN18.2-targeted radiotheranostic agents represent a class of radiolabeled compounds designed for the dual purpose of molecular imaging (diagnosis) and targeted radionuclide therapy (treatment) of tumors expressing Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2). These agents typically consist of a targeting vector—such as a monoclonal antibody (e.g., zolbetuximab) or a peptide—conjugated to a chelator that holds a radionuclide. Diagnostic versions utilize positron emission tomography (PET) or single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) isotopes (e.g., Zirconium-89, Gallium-68) to visualize tumor lesions and assess target expression. Therapeutic versions utilize beta- or alpha-emitting isotopes (e.g., Lutetium-177, Actinium-225) to deliver localized, cytotoxic radiation directly to CLDN18.2-positive cancer cells, minimizing damage to normal tissues.
