CLDN18.2 UCAR-T is a Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Suzhou Maximum Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. It involves genetically modifying a patient's T cells to express CARs that specifically target Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein. CLDN18.2 is often aberrantly expressed on the surface of various cancer cells, particularly in advanced gastric cancer. Upon infusion, these engineered CAR-T cells recognize and bind to CLDN18.2 on tumor cells, leading to their activation, proliferation, and subsequent destruction of the cancer cells. This targeted approach aims to leverage the body's immune system to fight cancer.
