CLDN18.2 UCAR-T cell injection is an investigational allogeneic (universal/off-the-shelf) chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. It is being developed by Zhongshan People's Hospital for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, specifically gastric and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancers. The therapy consists of donor-derived T cells engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein frequently overexpressed in gastric malignancies. As an allogeneic product, it is derived from healthy donor cells rather than the patient's own, potentially allowing for immediate availability and reduced manufacturing complexity compared to autologous CAR-T therapies. It is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials in China to assess safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy.
