Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**CLE-600** is an investigational oral, long-acting **carbidopa + levodopa** delivery system developed by Clexio for **Parkinson's disease**, particularly nocturnal symptoms, early-morning OFF, and morning akinesia. It uses Clexio's Oral Long Acting Release platform: the swallowed capsule unfolds in the stomach and releases carbidopa and levodopa over approximately 8–10 hours. Levodopa is converted in the central nervous system to dopamine to compensate for dopaminergic neurotransmission loss in Parkinson's disease, while carbidopa inhibits peripheral aromatic-L-amino-acid decarboxylase, increasing levodopa availability for delivery to the brain. A Phase 1b pharmacokinetic and safety study in patients with Parkinson's disease has been registered.
