CTP0301 is a low-volume (1-liter) polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based bowel preparation solution developed by Taejoon Pharmaceutical. It consists of a combination of polyethylene glycol 3350, sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium ascorbate, and ascorbic acid. Designed to improve patient compliance by reducing the required intake volume compared to traditional 2-liter or 4-liter PEG solutions, CTP0301 functions as an osmotic laxative. The high concentration of PEG and sodium sulfate, along with the osmotic action of the ascorbate components, induces a purgative effect by retaining water in the intestinal lumen, effectively cleansing the colon in preparation for colonoscopy. CTP0301 has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials, demonstrating non-inferiority in cleansing efficacy and improved patient preference compared to standard-volume preparations.
