Cleargonal

Cleargonal is an investigational hydrogen peroxide-based vaginal foam being developed by the Swedish company Zelmic AB for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV). Designed as a non-antibiotic alternative, Cleargonal acts as a topical antiseptic that targets the polymicrobial vaginal flora, including anaerobic bacteria such as *Gardnerella vaginalis*, which are characteristic of BV. By delivering hydrogen peroxide directly to the vaginal mucosa in a foam formulation, the drug aims to reduce clinical signs and symptoms while potentially restoring a healthy vaginal environment. It has been evaluated in a Phase I/II clinical trial in Sweden to assess its safety, tolerability, and effects on vaginal flora.
