In the U.S., it is not approved for human use but is approved as Ventipulmin for treating airway obstruction in horses[1][4]. Clenbuterol acts by stimulating beta2-adrenergic receptor on bronchial smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation. It also has decongestant properties and can increase energy expenditure, fat oxidation, and lean muscle mass while reducing body fat[6]. Due to these effects, it has been misused by athletes and bodybuilders for performance enhancement and weight loss.
