Clensia

Clensia is a low-volume, macrogol-based osmotic laxative used for bowel cleansing prior to clinical procedures such as colonoscopy or radiological imaging. It is a multi-component formulation containing macrogol 4000, anhydrous sodium sulfate, sodium citrate, citric acid, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and simethicone. The macrogol and salts work by increasing the osmotic pressure in the bowel, leading to water retention and an increased volume of stool, which stimulates peristalsis. Simethicone is included as an anti-foaming agent to reduce gas bubbles and improve mucosal visualization during endoscopy. It is typically administered as a two-liter solution and is marketed by Alfasigma.
