clevudine + hepatitis B vaccine is an experimental combination therapy comprised of the nucleoside analog antiviral **clevudine** and the **hepatitis B vaccine** (protein subunit vaccine targeting hepatitis B surface antigen). Preclinical studies in the woodchuck model of chronic hepadnaviral infection demonstrated that this combination provides additive therapeutic benefits: clevudine markedly reduces viral replication and antigenemia by inhibiting the HBV polymerase, while the hepatitis B vaccine provides antigen-specific immune stimulation. Combination therapy resulted in suppression of viremia, reduced hepatic viral markers, inhibition of chronic hepatitis progression, delayed hepatocellular carcinoma onset, and improved survival compared to either monotherapy. This approach uses **chemo-immunotherapy** to both suppress viral replication and enhance virus-specific immune control[1][8]. The therapy has been studied preclinically and in at least one clinical trial setting for chronic hepatitis B.
