CLIC-2201 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy that targets CD22, a protein expressed on the surface of B cells. It is designed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B cell malignancies, including B lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma and high-grade B-cell lymphoma. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own T cells via leukapheresis, genetically modifying them to express a CAR specific for CD22, expanding these modified cells ex vivo, and then infusing them back into the patient following lymphodepletion with cyclophosphamide and fludarabine. The primary mechanism of action is through recognition and binding to CD22 on malignant B cells by the engineered CAR-T cells, leading to targeted cytotoxicity against these cancerous cells. CLIC-2201 was developed by the British Columbia Cancer Agency as part of Canada's effort to create in-house CAR-T therapies[1][2][3][5][6].
