Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Climavita forte is a Swissmedic-approved herbal medicinal product developed and marketed by Permamed for the relief of menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes, sweating, sleep disturbances, nervousness, and mood swings. The active ingredient is a dry extract of the Cimicifuga racemosa rhizome (black cohosh), with each film-coated tablet containing 13 mg of the extract. Climavita forte is characterized by its non-estrogenic, organ-selective mechanism of action, functioning as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) without exerting direct estrogenic effects on the uterus or breast tissue. Additionally, it modulates central nervous system pathways, acting as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, 5-HT7, 5-HT1A, and 5-HT1D serotonin receptors, and the dopamine D2 receptor, which collectively contribute to temperature regulation and emotional stability during menopause.
