Overview

Dalacin-T (brand name: Dalacin T) is a topical antibiotic formulation containing clindamycin phosphate (equivalent to 10 mg clindamycin per mL) used for the treatment of acne vulgaris, particularly forms in which comedones, papules, and pustules predominate. Clindamycin phosphate is a lincosamide antibiotic that is hydrolyzed *in vivo* to active clindamycin. It works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, such as *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*), thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and preventing replication. Originally developed by Upjohn (now part of Pfizer), Dalacin-T is formulated as a topical lotion (aqueous emulsion) or topical solution and is typically applied to the affected skin twice daily.
