Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ClindaReach is a topical antibiotic formulation containing clindamycin phosphate (1%) indicated for the treatment of acne vulgaris. As a member of the lincosamide class, it acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, effectively inhibiting protein synthesis. This action reduces the population of *Propionibacterium acnes* on the skin and decreases the concentration of surface fatty acids. Originally manufactured by Sirius, a subsidiary of DUSA Pharmaceuticals, ClindaReach is typically supplied as medicated pledgets for easy topical application. It was the subject of an FDA alert in 2010 regarding manufacturing standards.
