clinisol

Clinisol is a 15% sulfite-free amino acid injection developed by Baxter Healthcare, designed as a source of nitrogen for parenteral nutrition regimens. It contains a balanced mixture of essential and non-essential amino acids, including branched-chain and aromatic amino acids, and is indicated for patients who cannot receive adequate nutrition via the enteral route due to gastrointestinal obstruction, inflammatory disease, surgery, or extensive burns. Clinisol acts as a metabolic substrate to offset nitrogen loss and treat negative nitrogen balance. Beyond its primary nutritional use, Clinisol has been utilized in clinical research to investigate the effects of amino acid infusion on glucagon suppression and insulin resistance in populations with obesity, pre-diabetes, and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
