Overview

Clinoptilolite is a naturally occurring zeolite mineral with a unique crystalline structure, widely used as a dietary supplement and detoxification agent in both human and veterinary medicine. Its mechanism centers on high cation-exchange capacity and selective adsorption, enabling it to bind and remove ammonia, heavy metals, uremic toxins, and mycotoxins from the gastrointestinal tract[1][2][3]. Clinoptilolite acts as a detoxicant and mineral donor, supports gastrointestinal barrier integrity, modulates immune function by enhancing phagocyte activity, provides antioxidative effects, and may act as an adjuvant in oncology to mitigate chemotherapy side effects and induce apoptosis in certain cancer cells[2]. It shows promising uses as an anti-diarrheic, hemostatic, and, potentially, an antiviral and antitumor adjuvant[1][2]. However, applications in humans are mainly as dietary supplements, and clinical evidence for pharmaceutical indications remains limited[1][3].
