Overview
**ClinSupV3ER** is an extended-release intravaginal tablet containing fixed doses of clindamycin phosphate equivalent to 100 mg clindamycin and 200 mg clotrimazole. It was evaluated in a completed randomized, open-label Phase 4 study in women with infective vaginitis, including bacterial, candidal, trichomonal, and mixed vaginal infections. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibacterial that binds the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit to inhibit protein synthesis, while clotrimazole is an azole antifungal that inhibits sterol 14-alpha-demethylase, disrupting ergosterol synthesis and fungal cell-membrane integrity. The formulation was administered vaginally once daily for 3 consecutive days and compared with the soft-gelatin-capsule formulation ClinSupV3.
