CLM2

CLM2 is a proprietary topical gel formulation of L-menthol developed by Glia, LLC, specifically designed to address contact lens discomfort (CLD). The drug is unique in its administration, as it is applied to the skin of the forehead rather than directly to the eye. CLM2 functions as an agonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8 (TRPM8) receptors, which are cold-sensitive ion channels located on the sensory nerve endings of the trigeminal nerve. Activation of these receptors on the skin is intended to stimulate the corneal-lacrimal reflex, thereby increasing basal tear production and providing a cooling, soothing sensation. This mechanism aims to prolong the duration of comfortable contact lens wear in individuals who typically experience symptomatic dryness or irritation.
