Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clobetasol propionate + miconazole nitrate is a combination topical pharmaceutical containing a **potent corticosteroid** (clobetasol propionate) and an **imidazole antifungal** (miconazole nitrate)[1][5][9]. Clobetasol propionate works by binding to glucocorticoid receptors within skin cells, reducing expression of pro-inflammatory mediators and decreasing vasodilation, capillary permeability, and leukocyte migration, leading to relief of inflammation, itching, redness, and swelling[2][5]. Miconazole nitrate acts by disrupting fungal cell membrane synthesis (inhibiting ergosterol formation), causing leakage and death of fungal cells[1][5]. This combination is used primarily in dermatology to treat inflammatory skin conditions where fungal infection is present or suspected, including **eczema**, **dermatitis**, **psoriasis**, and other mixed inflammatory/fungal dermatoses[5][9].
