Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clobetasol propionate + ammonium lactate is a topical combination drug used primarily for the treatment of inflammatory and hyperkeratotic skin conditions. Clobetasol propionate is a potent synthetic corticosteroid that acts by suppressing inflammation and immune responses in the skin through inhibition of pro-inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins. Ammonium lactate is an alpha-hydroxy acid derivative that functions as both a moisturizer and keratolytic agent; it increases skin hydration by promoting water retention in the stratum corneum and helps to soften and remove rough or scaly skin. This combination provides both anti-inflammatory effects (from clobetasol) and enhanced moisturization/keratolysis (from ammonium lactate), making it effective for short-term management of severe or steroid-responsive dermatoses such as psoriasis, eczema, ichthyosis vulgaris, chronic dry/scaly skin disorders, lichen planus, contact dermatitis, and other similar conditions[1][2][3][6][9].
