Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clobetasol propionate + zinc sulphate is a topical combination therapy consisting of two active ingredients: - Clobetasol propionate, a potent synthetic corticosteroid that acts as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agent by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor. It reduces inflammation, redness, itching, and swelling in various skin conditions by inhibiting pro-inflammatory signals and promoting anti-inflammatory gene expression. - Zinc sulphate, an inorganic compound with anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. It acts as an astringent and may help reduce irritation, promote healing of the skin barrier, and provide additional benefit in chronic inflammatory dermatoses. This combination has been studied for use in chronic hand eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, dermatitis, vitiligo, prurigo nodularis, contact dermatitis (and other corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses). Clinical studies suggest that the addition of zinc sulphate to clobetasol enhances efficacy compared to either agent alone for certain inflammatory skin diseases[1][3][5]. The recurrence rate of eczema was significantly lower with this combination than with clobetasol alone[1].
