Cervifen is a pharmaceutical product containing clomifene citrate, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used primarily to treat female infertility due to ovulatory dysfunction. Developed and marketed by Rowez Life Sciences, it functions by binding to estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus. This action blocks the negative feedback effect of circulating estrogens, leading to an increase in the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and a subsequent rise in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels from the pituitary gland. The resulting hormonal surge stimulates the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles, ultimately inducing ovulation in women who are anovulatory or oligo-ovulatory.
