Clomiphene citrate + N-acetyl cysteine is a fixed-dose combination of two agents used primarily for the treatment of female infertility, especially in women with ovulatory disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Clomiphene citrate is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that acts as a partial estrogen agonist/antagonist. It stimulates the release of gonadotropins by blocking estrogen's negative feedback at the hypothalamus, leading to increased secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), which induce ovulation. N-acetyl cysteine is an antioxidant and mucolytic agent that may improve fertility by enhancing cervical mucus quality and exerting insulin-sensitizing effects. The combination has been shown in clinical studies to increase ovulation rates compared to clomiphene alone in women with PCOS or those resistant to clomiphene monotherapy[1][3][4]. The product is generally well tolerated; common side effects include gastrointestinal upset, hot flashes, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and rash[2][5].
