This approach aims to maximize local therapeutic effects while minimizing systemic exposure. The primary indication for this combination has been investigated in clinical trials for burning mouth syndrome (stomatodynia), where topical application of clonazepam in a mucoadhesive base may provide symptomatic relief by disrupting local pain mechanisms[1][4].
