Overview

Clone 3 is a broadly neutralizing human monoclonal antibody (bnAb) developed by Adnexus Biotechnologies for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Derived from a long-term non-progressor patient, the antibody targets the highly conserved KLIC epitope within the immunodominant cluster II region of the HIV-1 gp41 envelope protein. By binding to this conserved sequence, which is present in approximately 98% of viral strains worldwide, Clone 3 neutralizes primary HIV isolates and prevents viral entry into host cells. The candidate is being developed in both IgG and IgA formats to provide both systemic and mucosal protection. It is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development, with Samsung Biologics serving as the manufacturing partner for large-scale production.
