Overview

Clopidol is a **small-molecule veterinary anticoccidial and antiprotozoal feed additive** used primarily in poultry for the prevention of coccidiosis. It is a coccidiostatic agent active mainly against *Eimeria* parasites at the sporozoite stage and is reported to inhibit oocyst sporulation, thereby interrupting the parasite life cycle. Clopidol has been marketed under the trade name **Coyden** for prevention of coccidiosis in broiler and replacement chickens caused by species including *Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. brunetti,* and *E. mivati*, and has also been used in turkeys for prevention of leucocytozoonosis caused by *Leucocytozoon smithi*. It is a veterinary drug and is not intended for human use.
