cloprostenol

Cloprostenol is a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) used primarily in veterinary medicine. It acts as a potent luteolytic agent by inducing functional and morphological regression of the corpus luteum in animals such as cattle and horses. This leads to cessation of progesterone production and return to estrus or induction of abortion within hours to days after administration. Its main indications include synchronization of estrus and ovulation for breeding management, treatment of reproductive disorders like sub-estrus (silent heat), pyometra or chronic endometritis, induction of abortion, and scheduling parturition in livestock.
