Overview

Cloricromene (also known as cloricromene hydrochloride) is a synthetic coumarin derivative small molecule drug. It possesses anti-platelet-aggregation activity and has been investigated for cholesterol-lowering effects. The drug is currently in Phase 3 development, specifically being studied in a double-blind, randomized, multicenter, placebo-controlled trial in Italy to evaluate its efficacy in arresting the progression of mild to moderate non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) in adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. It is administered orally at a dose of 100 mg three times daily. The development is a partnership between Bausch & Lomb and IOM S.p.A.
