Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ClorNasal is an over-the-counter intranasal formulation of the first-generation antihistamine chlorpheniramine maleate, developed by Dr. Ferrer BioPharma (marketed in the US by Ferrer Medical Innovations) as a metered nasal spray for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and related upper respiratory symptoms. It acts as a histamine H1 receptor inverse agonist, delivered locally to the nasal mucosa to reduce sneezing, rhinorrhea, itching, and congestion associated with allergy and viral upper respiratory infections, and has also been investigated as an intranasal therapy in COVID-19 due to its antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties.[1][3][7][8][11]
