Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clostridia, cluster XIVa, strain relative Clostridium_q symbiosum, live is a defined live commensal bacterial strain used as an active component of Vedanta Biosciences' orally administered microbiome therapeutics. The strain is identified in the VE303 program as VE303-04 and is also listed under the synonyms VE202-16 and JNJ-64841946. It is incorporated into the eight-strain VE303 live biotherapeutic product being evaluated for prevention of recurrent *Clostridioides difficile* infection, and it has also been included in the larger VE202 bacterial consortium evaluated for mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis. The intended pharmacology is restoration of colonization resistance and beneficial gut microbial metabolism rather than binding to a single human molecular target.
