Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clostridium butyricum + Bifidobacterium is a combination probiotic product containing live strains of the anaerobic, spore-forming bacterium Clostridium butyricum and species from the Bifidobacterium genus (often B. infantis or other clinically used strains). This combination is designed to restore and maintain healthy intestinal flora, particularly after disruption by antibiotics or infections. The mechanism of action involves modulation of gut microbiota composition, enhancement of short-chain fatty acid (butyrate) production (by C. butyricum), anti-inflammatory effects through cytokine regulation (e.g., normalization of IL-10, IFN-γ, TNF-α), improvement in intestinal barrier function, and attenuation of systemic inflammation. Clinical studies have shown that this combination can be more effective than single-strain probiotics for conditions such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) and may also benefit chronic stress-induced gut alterations via Nrf2 pathway activation[1][3][5]. It is available in various formulations including sachets and capsules.
