Clostridium ghonii spores is an investigational oncolytic bacterial therapy developed by Shandong New Creation Biotechnology for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including soft tissue sarcoma. The therapy utilizes the unique properties of *Clostridium ghonii*, an obligate anaerobic bacterium. When administered via intratumoral injection, the spores remain dormant in oxygenated tissues but selectively germinate into vegetative bacteria within the hypoxic and necrotic regions characteristic of solid tumors. These bacteria then proliferate and cause direct lysis of tumor cells, a process known as bacteriolysis. Beyond direct destruction, the localized bacterial infection is designed to stimulate the host's immune system, potentially converting 'cold' tumors into 'hot' tumors and inducing a systemic anti-tumor response.
