clotrimazole + clobetasol propionate

Mycoclon is a topical combination pharmaceutical product developed and manufactured by Batterjee Pharma. It contains two active ingredients: clotrimazole, a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal, and clobetasol propionate, a very high-potency corticosteroid. Clotrimazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, which is essential for converting lanosterol to ergosterol in fungal cell membranes; this disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and cell death. Clobetasol propionate acts as an agonist at the glucocorticoid receptor, inducing the synthesis of lipocortins which inhibit phospholipase A2, thereby reducing the release of arachidonic acid and suppressing the formation of inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Mycoclon is primarily indicated for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses complicated by secondary fungal infections or fungal infections accompanied by significant inflammatory symptoms, such as severe tinea or cutaneous candidiasis.
